It’s funny how when you start out on a project you have this idea in your head -- the ideal situation, the way you want it to unfold. I wrote a story about the Journalism University 101 class and the new Journalism Living and Learning Community. I took the story because I thought it would have great potential.

It’s also funny when things take a turn and when you are done you have something completely different from what you thought you would have once you have your final product. When I heard about all the cool things  the U101 class was doing and how many students were in the living and learning community, I thought it would be really exciting. As I started my interviews and began pulling together the parts of my story, it seemed to be taking on a mind of its own. I didn’t exactly know if the story fell flat, but it just didn’t have the the same feeling I saw in the beginning stages of it. I think that it rounded out nicely though. I enjoyed getting to know the students and what they have been doing during the inaugural year of the living and learning community.

I think that this was definitely a learning experience in rolling with the punches and keeping the intensity up when things begin to take a turn, especially when you don’t realize they have.
