Profile: Jennifer Lias

I am an avid magazine reader, receiving usually six or seven of my favorite publications by mail each month. I am always excited to delve into the new issues and absorb myself in the stories.

However, despite my love for this genre of journalism I have never had the chance to actually write for a magazine -- until now. This fall I have had the most amazing opportunity to develop my writing skills, practice interviewing, and learn about the financial and production aspects of a magazine and more while earning credits towards graduation. Perfect.

Through this Journalism 563D class here at the J-school I have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people -- specifically the six Gamecocks I interviewed for my two stories for our alumni magazine, InterCom. They are all unique, representing different regions of the United States, studying in different majors, with different hobbies, and one is even an accomplished alumna. I hope you enjoy reading my articles for this issue. They truly took me on an adventure of learning I will never forget.
