I registered for J563D, Magazine Production, with Professor Lisa Sisk expecting to learn about the magazine production process and magazine writing. Little did I know I would be participating in the actual production of the J-school/SLIS's alumni publication.
This experience has by far exceeded all of my expectations. For the first time, I had the opportunity to cover an event and have my story published. The Annual Literacy Leaders awards ceremony was an eye-opening experience. I was sitting in the audience frantically jotting down notes, in hopes that I didn’t miss anything. I also used my BlackBerry to record the speeches for quotes.
I took on the meticulous job of the alumni updates section. It was encouraging to see alumni still using the things they learned from J-school professors and loving their jobs. That keeps me hopeful and excited for my career field. Looking forward to graduating in May. ☺
